Every month, people at the businesses I look after take a short security lesson. This is this month's, and anyone's welcome to read it.
Your work laptop isn't the family computer.
This month's lesson is about using a work computer for personal things. Most of the time it's harmless. But a game for the kids, a free movie site, or a pop-up saying your computer is infected are some of the easiest ways into a business. If it's not for work, do it on your own phone or computer.
And if something odd happens, text or call me right away, even if you're not sure.

Here's mine for October: passed on the 1st with a score of 100%.
Three things to remember
- Keep it to work. Your work computer is set up to protect the company's files and email. Personal shopping, streaming and banking go around that. And it isn't the family computer, even for a minute.
- Only install what's approved. Games, cheats, browser add-ons and free tools are a common way malware gets in. If you need a program for work, ask and I'll set it up.
- Tell me early. A strange pop-up, a sudden slowdown, a program you didn't install: text or call and I'll take a look.

Got a strange email?
Don't click anything in it. Forward it to me, or text or call, and I'll tell you whether it's real. If your Outlook has a Report button, that works too.
The Phish Bowl
Finish every lesson this season and your name goes in the bowl. After the last lesson, I'll draw three names from the bowl right here, and you can watch the replay. Then I'll draw one company from a second bowl.

- Finish every lesson this season: your name goes in the bowl. It counts on its own, so there's nothing to send.
- When 90% of your company finishes: your company goes in the team bowl. Two people or fifty, every company gets the same one slip.
- Report a real phishing email: a second slip with your name on it.
No purchase needed. Open to people at companies that get security training through We Travel PC. The first season is the October, November and December lessons, drawn in January 2027. Not with We Travel PC yet? Ask Michael about it.
