The Mouse Pointer Is Hard to See

Making the pointer bigger and switching it to black is one of the
quickest wins on a bright screen or a large monitor. It takes about a minute
and nothing else on the computer changes.

Windows 11

1. Click Start, then Settings.
2. Choose Accessibility, then Mouse pointer and touch.
3. Under Mouse pointer style, click Black.
4. Drag the Size slider until the pointer is easy to spot. Most people
   land somewhere between 3 and 5.

The pointer changes as you drag, so you can watch it grow and stop where it
looks right.

There is also Inverted, which flips the pointer to whatever stands out
against what is behind it, and Custom, which lets you pick a color such
as green or bright pink. Custom is worth a look if black still gets lost in
dark photos or spreadsheets.

Windows 10

1. Click Start, then Settings.
2. Choose Ease of Access, then Mouse pointer on the left.
3. Drag Change pointer size.
4. Under Change pointer color, click the black square.

Mac

1. Open the Apple menu, then System Settings.
2. Click Accessibility, then Display, then Pointer.
3. Drag Pointer size.
4. Set Pointer fill color to black.

Leaving the outline white gives the black pointer a thin light edge, so it
still shows up against dark windows. On older Macs the same settings live in
System Preferences, then Accessibility, then Display.

Worth knowing. This setting belongs to your sign-in, not the computer.
It follows you around that machine, but if you use a second computer you
will want to set it there too.

If you meant the blinking cursor when you type

That is a different setting. On Windows, go to Settings, Accessibility,
then Text cursor, where you can make it thicker and turn on a colored
indicator above and below it. On a Mac, the same kind of options sit under
Accessibility, then Display.
